Reading Together Doesn’t Cost a Thing. Just Time, Imagination, and a Cozy Spot!

Here are some free and fun ways to help your child fall in love with reading at home, on the go, and during everyday moments:

  • Read for 20 minutes every day at the same time to build a routine.

  • Read everywhere — books, signs, menus, and packages all count!

  • Read out loud to family, pets, or even stuffed animals to build confidence.

  • Limit screen time so there’s more time for stories and books.

  • Create a cozy reading corner with soft pillows, good light, and a box of favorite books.

  • Take books with you on car rides, to appointments, or while running errands.

  • Read while waiting — turn extra minutes into reading time.

  • Ask questions while reading to spark curiosity and help your child understand the story.

  • Keep a reading log and celebrate progress with small rewards to keep your child motivated.
